THE GRANDMOTHERS RECOMMEND:

.Making Mom Proud
This Mother's Day, give the best gift of all:
B
old action on climate change
May 9-11th is Mother's Day weekend—and what b
etter way to honor mothers than to highlight the bright, prosperous future that we envision for our children? Families, individuals and communities across the country all share a common interest in addressing and overcoming the climate crisis for present and future generations. That’s why we need to bring them together now: to shift U.S. climate policies before it's too late.

Mother's Day weekend is our chance to expand the climate movement—to invite parents, young people and community groups to come together and send a powerful message that resonates with our political leaders. We all share the same cause—the welfare of future generations—and together, we can make climate action a moral imperative for our elected officials.

The Activities
Reach out to your networks and ask them to take the following actions:

Paint a brighter future.
In the face of climate change, what do you want your future to look like? Paint or draw a picture of what's most important to you, with the help of your friends, family and local community organizations—church groups, elementary schools, gardening clubs, etc. All you need is a large piece of fabric—a quilt, oldpillowcases, sheets or curtains—and some markers or paint.
N
e sure to take pictures while you're creating so we can feature you on www.1sky.org!  When you're done, send us your artwork and we will showcase it at a high-profile press event in Washington, D.C.

Mommy Meetups and Stroller Marches: Moms and Kids Making Calls for the Climate.
In partnership with 1Sky, Greenpeace and True Majority are mobilizing mothers on Saturday, May 10th. At these Mommy Meetups, moms and kids of all ages will gather in parks and homes for group photos, then use cell phones to record short voicemails calling for climate action. The photos and audio clips will be featured on a website where Congress, the press, and the public can see and hear from families across the country.

Capture the faces of climate change.
If you can’t attend one of our events in person, you can still help paint a national picture of the climate reality we seek for present and future generations by contributing online. In addition to uploading photos and video of their Mother's Day activities, we’re inviting Americans everywhere to take pictures and video of the people and places that matter most to them—in their Congressional districts, in their neighborhoods, or in their families.
Partner Organizations
Committed partners nationwide are growing daily, and include groups such as Greenpeace, Religious Witness for the Earth, Interfaith Power & Light, Chesapeake Climate Action Network (DC, VA, MD), Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (FL, GA, NC, SC, TN), Center for Civic Policy (NM), Climate Solutions (WA), the National Education Association student program, Climate Counts, Friends Committee on National Legislation, and 11th Hour Action.
