Regina hosting 2014 indigenous games

Saskatchewan: The city of Regina will play host to the 2014 North American Indigenous Games. The two-week event attracts up to 10,000 athletes, coaches, and fans.

The bid was made by the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, the province and the city.

The budget for 2014's North American Indigenous Games is $10,350,000. 

Saskatchewan and Sport Canada are each contributing $3,500,000.
The City of Regina is contributing $1,100,000
 The rest will be raised through fees, sponsorships and fundraising.

Regina's bid won out over several other communities including London, Ontario. and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The last time the event was hosted in Saskatchewan was 1993, when it was held in Prince Albert.
