Nevada: Earlier this year, Nevada's
senators Harry Reid and John Ensign
welcomed Christina Thomas to
Washington, D.C., as an American
Fall, Thomas was attacked by
radio and tv host Glenn
Beck. Thomas had chosen to sing
a tribal flag song instead of the
National Anthem at a Reid rally.
The Paiute, Shoshone and Hopi
told the crowd she would sing
flag song instead. "I sing this in
honor of all our veterans" and
"those who are still fighting
for our freedoms overseas," she
After Thomas shared her
message, Beck said, "Ladies and
gentlemen, the national anthem."
While playing the audio of Thomas
singing, Beck said, "not really
our national anthem,
maybe her national
anthem. When somebody says, 'Please
rise for the national anthem,'
what song are you expecting?"
then ridiculed Christina for not
showing enough patriotism.
After attacking Thomas,
Beck compared her choice to a
2008 incident in Denver.
Rene Marie had been introduced
to sing "The Star Spangled
Banner." Instead, she sang "Lift Every Voice and
Sing," a song often called the
black national anthem. Beck
said Thomas choice was "the same

then played a
parody of the Soviet national
anthem with the lyrics, "All
hail the messiah, Obama."
He dedicated it to "our
savior, Barack Obama."
