Young Brothers gifts native Hawaiian mobile resource lab
By the Garden Island
Condensed by Gina Boltz, Director, Native Village

LIHU‘E — Hawaiian Tug and Barge along with Young Brothers Kaua‘i officials have awarded funds for a mobile resource and technology lab.

The monies will go to Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i’s Kekukuilamalamaho‘ola Native Hawaiian Health Career and Education Program. Ho'ola's Lahui's mobile lab will transport Native Hawaiian language books and resources across the entire island. More native students will now have access to relevant materials. The goal is to revive and preserve their language, arts, history and culture.

“In today’s economic climate, it’s back to basics for everyone. Why have duplicate resources at multiple schools when you can have a fantastic treasure chest of books, literature, art and culture that’s mobile?”asked Kanoe Ahuna, program director. “We are fortunate that Young Brothers recognized this as well and sees the value in educating our community.”

Ho'ola's mission is to increase native Hawaiian students’ academic competency and promote education in healthcare related fields.
